Beamline for Schools has become very popular over the past seven years, with more than 11000 students participating in it. The competition is open to teams of at least five students, 16 years and older, with at least one adult supervisor, or “coach”.

Any participant that subsequently travels to DESY as a member of a winning Beamline for Schools competition team will, in due course, need to ensure that she/he has health and accident insurance cover that is adequate for Germany and that the documents that prove that they have this cover are available for inspection during their visit to DESY. This year, some 119 teams from all over the world sent us their proposed experiments. The students submitted proposals in two parts: A written part supported by diagrams or pictures, explaining BEAMLINE FOR SCHOOLS (BL4S) International competition for high school students from all around the world organised by CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, in Geneva, Switzerland. The competition invites teams of high-school students to propose a scientific experiment that they want to perform at a particle accelerator.
